328463Race Preview – Greg Gildenhuys
Event Date: 28 April 2012
Event: Round 3 WesBank Super Series Aldo Scribante Circuit- Port Elizabeth

The factory BMW Motorrad squad is ready to take their 2012 Championship title chase to the next level at round three of the series with a new found vigour after claiming their first win of the season at the previous round in Cape Town.

After spending much of their time since the last round fine tuning and testing the 2012 S1000RR, the team feels that they are finally in a position to hold the same pace as they had at the end of last year when beating the combination of Gildenhuys and the S1000RR was nearly impossible. Aldo Scribante is historically a good track for the S1000RR and Greg is feeling confident.

“We’ve done extensive testing in Jo’burg to get the bike to a level where I can push it to the limit. This hasn’t really been the case so far this season but my win at Killarney proves that we have been close. We tested at Aldo a few weeks back and the pace was well within national times. I like the layout of the track and have gone well there in the past. The surface is a little abrasive,  so the guy that can battle up front and conserve his tyres is going to be the winner. Our base set up from testing there is good, we just have to include the new data we have secured in Jo'burg and then, "hang on the cable". Friday practise should give us more of a feel of where we are compared to our counterparts but I am confident that we will be up there all weekend. My aim, the double win!” said the speedster from Boskruin in Johannesburg.

Other names to look out for sporting S1000RR entries are, Heinrich Rheeder, Gareth Davidson, Nic Grobler and of course Ryan Ottens. All of whom have the capabilities to run in the top ten. Grobler and Ottens however, would be hard done by to not complete the weekend’s preceding in the top five.
