The expanded Audi A7 Sportback family
- New 3.0 TDI 150 kW engine entry level model
- Audi S7 Sportback: first customers take delivery
- Audi RS7 Sportback: available to order in August 2013
The Audi A7 Sportback was launched in South Africa in March 2011 and has since targeted niche customers in the competitive C-segment of the premium market. This elegant five-door model unites the emotion-packed character of a coupé with the comfort and prestige of a sedan.
The lightweight body of the Audi A7 Sportback includes up to 20 percent aluminum and its high rigidity is the foundation for the precise handling, excellent workmanship and quiet cabin free of intrusive noise. Combine this with the powerful and highly efficient engines, the sporty chassis and the advanced assistance and multimedia systems, it sets a new standard in the luxury market.
The Audi A7 Sportback is designed to slot comfortably between the C-segment offering (Audi A6) and D segment model range (Audi A8). At the launch of the A7 Sportback, the range consisted of two six-cylinder engines: one petrol and one diesel, however a new entry-level engine is now being introduced to the South African market.
The advanced 3.0 TDI engine produces 150 kW and is matched to a multitronic transmission. It consumes on average just 5.3 litres of fuel per 100 km, corresponding to groundbreaking CO₂ emissions of just 139 g/km. This engine features a recuperation system, thermal management and start-stop system as standard.
The Audi A7 3.0TDI 150kW is now available at all Audi Dealers with the following specification:

The Audi A7 range was further enhanced late last year with the introduction of the sporty and dynamic Audi S7 Sportback. The S7 Sportback has a twin-turbo V8 powerplant which delivers 309 kW from a displacement of four litres while transmitting 550 Nm of torque between 1,400 and 5,200 rpm.
The Audi S7 Sportback accelerates from 0 – 100km/h in 4.7 seconds, while averaging 9.6 litres of fuel per 100 km. The cylinder on demand system, which switches off four of the eight cylinders in many driving situations, contributes significantly to this efficiency. The system deactivates four of the eight cylinders at low load, reducing fuel consumption at moderate highway speeds by up to ten percent. Transmission on the S7 Sportback is a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch, with quattro® permanent all-wheel drive as standard.
The first Audi S7 Sportback units were delivered to customers in the month of January 2013. The S7 Sportback is priced at R 919 600, inclusive of all taxes and the standard five-year/100 000 km Audi Freeway Plan.
To round off the offering in this segment, Audi will further expand this range with the introduction of the breath-taking Audi RS 7 Sportback, due to be launched in South Africa later this year. This model will be available to order in August 2013.
The twin-turbo V8 displaces 3,993 cc and develops awesome power, with 412 kW available between 5,700 and 6,700 rpm. A constant 700 Nm of torque is available between 1,750 and 5,500 rpm. The sprint from zero to 100 km/h takes just 3.9 seconds. The speed governor can be deactivated upon customer request to permit a top speed of up to 305 km/h. Despite this superior performance, the Audi RS 7 Sportback consumes on average just 9.8 litres of fuel per 100 km, due to the standard start-stop system, thermal management and highly-innovative cylinder-on-demand technology as per the S7 Sportback.
The RS7 Sportback will be available in Tiptronic transmission only and is standard with quattro® all-wheel drive. Further details on the Audi RS7 Sportback will be available closer to its local launch introduction in 2013.
