GOUVEIAS STAY ON THE WINNING TRAIL

Thaba ‘Nchu, Saturday – Tony and Michael Gouveia kept their unbeaten record in Class B in the Northern Region Off Road Championship when they won the Special Vehicle category at the Human Auto 400 which ended here today.

Round seven of the regional series was run in conjunction with the penultimate round of the Absa national championship with the Gouveia father and son team scoring a one minute and 43 second win over KwaZulu-Natal crew Leon Bothma and Quintin Brand in a BAT. The KZN crew also entered the national race where they won Class B.

Third overall and Class P winners were veteran Giel Nel and Johan de Klerk in the Portable Shade Zarco Lite. They were the only Class P finishers after teenagers Adriaan Roets and Sean van Staden, in the KEC BAT, were forced to retire with mechanical problems early into the race.

Third in Class B went to another KZN driver in Graeme Petersen (Dragonfly) with Marthinus le Roux/Gustav Pienaar (Sandmaster) and veteran Wolf-Peter Pfumfei (WPP) completing the top five.
