Toyota 1000 Desert Race - Gaborone, Prologue
information supplied by: Cross Country Commission (Media) 12 June 2006

There were mixed fortunes for Toyota crews on todays prologue for the Toyota 1000 Desert Race, round three of the Absa Off Road Championship, which starts in Gaborone tomorrow.

The mixed fortunes were amply illustrated by matters in the premier Super Production (SP) Class. A clean run saw Mark Cronje and Chris Birkin, in the Castrol Toyota Hilux, come in fourth while team-mates Bevan Bertholdt and Robin Houghton were among the non finishers after suffering brake failure.

This means Bertholdt and Houghton will start from near the back of the field, and will have their work cut out making up time. Cronje and Birkin will start around four minutes behind the lead car.
