HIGH LEVEL OF SECURITY FOR TOYOTA FORTUNER

Vehicle anti-theft protection for the new Toyota Fortuner comes in the form of a transponder immobiliser system that requires the code emitted by the key to match that stored in the ECU (Engine Control Unit). Unless the original key is used the engine will be inoperable. An intrusion alarm is also fitted.
An antenna coil wrapped around the ignition key cylinder receives the encrypted ID code sent from the transponder chip built into the ignition key. If this code matches the code registered in the vehicle ECU then the immobiliser is deactivated and the ignition and fuel injection systems are activated to allow the engine to start when the key is turned.
