The Marque presents a “World Premiere“ for the new Peugeot 308, launches the 508 and introduces new
- e-HDi micro-hybridisation on the 508 and the new 308
- T he first diesel hybrid in the world with the 3008 HYbrid4

2010: a record-breaking year
In the year of its 200th anniversary, Peugeot achieved an all-time record in terms of global sales, up 16.3 % to 2,142,000 units. In 2010, Peugeot
- confirmed its position as the world’s leading French car manufacturer;
- moved up one place in the manufacturer rankings both at world and European level (9th and 4th place respectively);
- launched the RCZ sports coupé, delivered the first 100 % electric Peugeot iOn vehicles, and put on sale models specifically designed for leading growth markets, including the 408 in China and the Hoggar pick-up in Brazil;
- began European deployment of the highly innovative Mu by Peugeot
- continued its international development in Asia (sales up 38.9 %), Russia (+ 34 %), and Latin America (+ 24 %)…
To develop this momentum in 2011, Peugeot is unveiling more new products in Geneva, reaffirming its environmental leadership and offering its vision of the mobility of tomorrow.
The Product objective
The world premiere of the new 308: technological, efficient and elegant
After three-and-a-half years on the market, with 900,000 models sold in more than 100 countries, the
308 gets a new look and receives its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new 308 subtly incorporates the Marque’s new stylistic codes: all three body shapes, Hatchback, SW and SW, adopt a more sophisticated elegance, assertive and dynamic as ever due to new Xenon headlamps with a titanium black tint on the exclusive top-of-the-range model.
While the new 308 confirms the dynamic excellence for which the car has been renowned since its launch, it now sets the bar in terms of environmental efficiency: contributing factors include its weight, reduced by 25 kg, tyres with ultra-low rolling resistance, redesigned aerodynamics (Cx from 0.28: a record in the segment), and optimised engines (four petrol models from 98 to 200 bhp, four HDi engines from 92 to 163 bhp). Its 1.6 litre HDi FAP 112 bhp Euro 5 engine, equipped with innovative e-HDi STOP & START
technology, paves the way for CO2 emissions of 98 g/km – another new record in the segment.
The commercial launch of the Peugeot 508: strong design at the service of emotion
With the new 508, launched at the beginning of February in its leading European markets, Peugeot reaffirms its ambitions in one of its traditional strong suits, the large touring car segment. With its Saloon (4.79 m) and SW (4,81 m) body shapes, its wide choice of economic petrol and diesel engines ranging from 112 to 204 bhp and its innovative equipment, the 508 is a modern car fully attuned to the aspirations of dynamic, demanding and responsible customers.
The Peugeot 508 combines strong design and emotion with:
- its avant-garde technologies, including e-HDi (new generation STOP & START
) and, from 2012, the HYbrid4 diesel hybrid power train;
- its environmental efficiency, assured by its optimised engines, its weight and its aerodynamics;
- its elegant and timeless style, which reflects the first developments of the Marques stylistic codes, its streamlined, prestigious and dynamic appearance;
- its capacity, its perceived quality, its equipment, and its interior comfort and convenience;
- and of course its unique driving experience, based on the Marque’s longstanding expertise.
With the 508, Peugeot continues its international objectives: Produced in France (Rennes) for all markets except China, it will also be manufactured in its Saloon version in China (Wuhan), ready to go on sale from July 2011 on the world’s leading car market.
For the first full year of marketing of the 508 (2012), Peugeot has set itself the target of 200,000 sales worldwide, with one third attributable to China, and a podium place in the M 2/D category of the European market.
Limited edition RCZ
At Geneva, the RCZ reveals its “Asphalt” limited edition”, available in the spring of 2011: it stands out from the 200 bhp production version by its exclusive matt grey body colour, its two-tone 19’’ wheels and numerous distinctive features both outside and inside that give it an unmistakeable sporty appearance.
Launched in the spring of 2010, the RCZ has already attracted more than 17,000 customers, largely exceeding 2010 targets.
Success in the MPV segment
For their first full year on the market, the 3008 and the 5008 recorded sales of more than 200,000 in 2010, i.e. 25% above target, and demand continues to be greater than our supply capacities. The two models, complementary yet sharing similarities in terms of capacity, modularity, comfort and dynamic qualities, have established Peugeot as a major player in the highly competitive “compact MPV” market, where the Marque lacked any presence less than two years ago.
The environmental objective
The 3008 HYbrid4, the world’s first Diesel Hybrid: in Geneva, as a limited edition
With its launch of the world’s first diesel hybrid vehicle, from mid-2011, Peugeot presents a new and original offer in terms of environmental efficiency and driving sensations.
On the 3008 Crossover, the hybridisation of a diesel engine (2.0 HDi FAP 120 kW/163 bhp) driving the front wheels and an electric motor with a capacity of 27 kW (37 bhp) at the rear sets the scene for 4-wheel drive, a maximum power of 200 bhp, a “zero emission” mode and standardised average fuel consumption starting from 3.8 litres/100 km (74.3 MPG). Coupled with new driving enjoyment is a breakthrough in terms of CO2 emissions at just 99 g/km, a 35% reduction compared to a combustion engine of comparable power.
At Geneva, Peugeot presents a Limited Edition 3008 HYbrid4: the 300 numbered cars, in Pearlescent White with two-tone full leather trim, can be reserved online as soon as the Motor Show opens. In 2012, the 508 will be the second Peugeot model to benefit from the HYbrid4 power train.
e-HDi micro-hybrid technology on the 508 and the new 308
The 508 and the new 308 are the forerunners of the innovative e-HDi technology, a new generation STOP & START
, prior to its deployment on other models in the range. e-HDi couples the 1.6 litre HDi Euro 5 engine with a reversible alternator ensuring the STOP & START
function. Together with a system that recovers energy during deceleration and a hybrid battery that delivers additional energy on start-up (e-booster), the HDi unit allows:
- a 15 % reduction in fuel consumption in urban traffic;
- 40 % faster restarting than with a reinforced starter system;
- engine cut-out before the vehicle comes to a complete standstill;
- enhanced driveability (silent operation, absence of vibrations) and operating temperatures.
Electric: reality and intense
The i0n is the first 100% electric new-generation urban car, designed for professional and private customers.
The Lithium-ion batteries supplying its 47 kW (64 bhp) electric motor allow a maximum speed of 130 km/h (80.7 mph) and a range of 150 km (93 miles). 4 doors, 4 seats, silent, lively and practical, the iOn combines excellent capacity and compactness with unrivalled handling and very low running costs.
Orders received for the iOn, which has already won a number of awards in Europe, outstripped production volumes for the first quarter of 2011. However, while for Peugeot “electricity” is now a reality, it can and must also be synonymous with “intensity”.
This intensity is concentrated in the EX1
concept car. This exceptional 2-seater roadster is designed for intense sensations,
- with its two electric motors giving it a cumulative power of 340 bhp and 4-wheel drive;
- with its extreme aerodynamics;
- with its ultra-light structure.
is built for performance: it has already established or broken several approved acceleration records in France and China.
