Exciting new Television series featuring Riaan Garforth-Venter only on Ignition, DStv Channel 265
story by: Stuart Johnson - Street Rods 09 July 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXCITING NEW TELEVISION SERIES FEATURING RIAAN GARFORTH-VENTER

ONLY ON IGNITION, DStv Channel 265

JOHANNESBURG: STREET RODS AFRICA is an entertaining motoring series for the whole family. It is very seldom that a television show comes along that pleases both the hardcore petrolhead and the amateur car enthusiast toying with the idea that there might be more to cars than meets the eye… A television show that dad will down tools for, mom will drop the dishcloth for, and the kids leave their playstation for… A show of pure, unadulterated, overhauling, performance fun.

The anchor presenter, Riaan ‘Gasket’ Garforth-Venter has traded his power tools for socket wrenches and screwdrivers as we see him get down and dirty with the mechanical mastermind, Etienne ‘Spanner’ Bothma from Street Rod Factory.

Over the course of the 13 episodes a 1941 Chevy is transformed from a discarded piece of scrap metal to a tar-chewing street machine with enough grace and grandeur to satisfy even the most critical hot rodder. Attention to detail is a trademark throughout the series, in content as well as in the production and execution of each episode.

Each episode consists of workshop segments as the crew recovers, rebuilds and redeems the Chevy. It also features two weekly inserts with South African television personality Patrick Shai, and Joe van Zyl, (editor of SA hotrods), in WHEELS OF FAME. Stuart Johnston, the well-known motoring journalist, presents HAMPTON’S DRIVE from behind the wheel as he cruises classics and savours super-cars.

Each informative half hour will be revved into gear with petrol-pumping action, nail biting breaks and enough hilarious horsepower to make your pistons weep.

STREET RODS AFRICA will broadcast from the 30th of July for 13 consecutive weeks. IGNITION’s South Africa’s only dedicated motoring channel, broadcasting weekends only on DSTV, Channel 265 from midnight on Friday to midnight on Sunday. IGNITION offers a 6 hour loop of content covering all things motoring related.
