Introduction:
Audi of South Africa is now offering two new models for order in the A5 range, both fitted with quattro® all-wheel drive and a 7-speed S tronic dual clutch transmission.
Following on the introduction of the A4 2.0T quattro® S tronic and the A5 Coupé 2.0T quattro® S tronic, increased demand for all-wheel drive models have prompted the introduction of this drive-train on the A5 Sportback and the A5 Cabriolet.
These models are now available to order and will retail in South Africa in October this year:
Indicative Pricing:
- A5 Sportback 2.0T FSI q S tronic 155 kW R445 000
- A5 Cabriolet 2.0T FSI q S tronic 155 kW R515 000
Model details:
Both models share the same high equipment levels as their front-wheel drive counterparts with the exception that 18-inch wheels and tyres are standard equipment.
Further standard equipment include bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and rear LED taillights, tyre pressure monitor and a full-colour MMI system, amongst others.
In addition, for the A5 Cabriolet model, a fully automatic acoustic hood (which can be operated up to 50 km/h) and wind deflector are standard.
Fitted with Audi’s latest-generation quattro® drive, power is transmitted to all four wheels in a 40:60 front to rear ratio. At any given time up to 85 % of the power can be transmitted to the rear axle if required.
Powering both versions is Audi’s familiar 1984 cc four-cylinder direct injection petrol engine with turbo charger and Audi’s Valve Lift System. It produces peak power of 155 kW between 4 300 and 6 000 r/min and maximum torque of 350 Nm available in full from just 1 500 r/min.
This allows for a 0-100 km/h time on the A5 Sportback model of 6,6 sec and a top speed of 241 km/h. The Cabriolet version does offers a 7,3 sec 0-100 km/h time and a top speed in excess of 230 km/h.
The 7-Speed S tronic dual clutch transmission provides lightning fast shits for quick and seamless acceleration. The driver can also change gears manually by using the standard steering-wheel mounted paddle shifts.
Conclusion:
The combination of quattro® all-wheel drive and S tronic gearbox is unique to Audi in the B segment of the premium market.
In addition to the quattro® models already on offer in the Audi range, these new additions will further bolster Audi’s dominance in all-wheel drive technology in the premium segment.
