Special Stage four of VW Rally cancelled
With one special stage, a short tarmac super special stage outside Uitenhage, remaining Johnny Gemmell/Carolyn Swan (Castrol Toyota Auris) lead the VW Rally by 10.8 seconds from Jan Habig/Robert Paisley (Basil Read Ford Fiesta) and by 14.9 seconds from Toyota teammates Leeroy Poulter and Elvéne Coetzee.
In fourth place 57.3 sec in arrears are championship leaders Mark Cronje/Robin Houghton (Sasol Racing Ford Fiesta), they in turn are 43 seconds ahead of Sasol Ford teammates Jon Williams/Cobus Vrey.
Stage four, a seven kilometres stage in and around the PE Oval track was cancelled due to water logged road caused by the heavy rains that have fallen in the area over recent days.
The tight competition between the leading crews is illustrated by the fact that the first three stages of this 12 stage event have all had different winners.
Habig/Paisley won special stage one, with Poulter/Coetzee took stage two and Gemmell/Swan stage three.
The Rally ends after special stage five for today and will rest tomorrow morning in Uitenhage with seven special stages to be completed before the finale at Kings Beach in Port Elizabeth tomorrow afternoon.
